Berlin-based photographer Alexander Kilian lets colors speak. In his still lifes, spontaneous moments meet precise composition, imbued with a quiet melancholy. Brought together, the images unfold a near-meditative intensity – casting MÜHLE products in a new light.

Play of Light

Berlin-based photographer Alexander Kilian, originally from Offenbach, thinks in colours – the selection of which is the starting point of each of his works. His still lifes look like a mixture of snapshot and highly complex composition – with a certain melancholy. Once brought together, once conversing with each other, their impact becomes more intense.

Centuries in the bog have dyed dark the wood used for the handle (razor of the Kosmo series). Bruyère-
wood turns red if boiled before treatment (razor of the Purist series).

Velvety to the touch is the birch bark which enwrappes the handles of brush (here you can read more about the material) and safety-razor of the Rocca series. New to the range is the fitting stainless steel holder.

Tempting southern dreams: Razors of the Kosmo series with lemon yellow high-grade resin handle (today still available in black, bog oak and olive wood).

This photo series has first been published in the printed edition of 30 Grad in spring 2018.
